Elise Kutt (Owner/Photographer)
A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I spent much of my 20’s in a frantic search for adventure as a Chicago location scout and producer for advertising, catalog and film shoots. I've ridden a camel across the Sahara, swam in a cage surrounded by sharks, and scouted for the perfect hot tub to fill with hot chocolate and marshmallows. I’m addicted to green juice, dying my hair, everything vintage, and the smell of new school supplies. I've spent years studying posing specific to the female body of every shape and size. I will coach you through every pose and movement like a boss and never leave you hanging!
In a society that puts a camera in every hand but is quick to shame the selfie, my mission is to create a safe and supportive environment for female self expression. Empowering ALL women through photography is why what I do is so unique and special. It’s about so much more than a simple portrait, it’s about self-awareness and self-love. Kenzie Brooke (Photographer, Executive Assistant)
Hailing from the bluegrass state with the astrological confusion of a Capricorn-Gemini-Gemini, Kenzie embarked on a journey of self-discovery in the eclectic landscape of West Michigan. Armed with a business administration degree, she danced through various professions, from hair and makeup artistry to fashion and interior design, and even tried her hand at the fine art of spray tanning. However, it was through the world of Tumblr (eeek!) that she stumbled upon her calling of photography.
As the multifaceted photographer and executive assistant of the Bettie Spaces, Kenzie wears many hats with finesse. Managing the boutique, curating Naughty Bettie's exquisite collection, and crafting captivating social media narratives are just a few facets of her dynamic role. She's the behind-the-scenes architect, ensuring that everything runs smoother than a well-groomed mustache.
With a style that's been described as a "70's porno vibe," and a love for a good 'stache, our gal has a unique aesthetic that sets her apart. But what really sets her apart is her passion for finding the "slayyyy" in everyone that steps in front of her camera or in the boutique.
Jennifer Bartlett (Hair and Makeup Artist)
As a native of Metro Detroit, Jennifer spent her life immersed in a vast array of music and art which helped shape her love for deep connection through daydreaming, creation, and expression. By tuning into her passions, she excelled at multiple crafting and musical forms throughout her teen years.
In 2007, after four years split between Oakland University and Western Michigan University, Jennifer left academia to return to her roots in creative arts through the beauty and entertainment industries. Her desire for visual expression, community, and collaboration led to a self-employed career in cosmetology, where she specialized in creative hair color, fashion, and cinematic makeup application. Her obsession with music videos propelled her into the realm of cinematography and theatrics only aiding her work as a creative, a writer, a musician, and a storyteller.
Today, she continues her quest to cultivate understanding, empathy, and connection through the arts. Jennifer balances her work at Mod Bettie, in her salon chair, and in musical adventures with her band, Lokella. She then retreats to her home in the woods just north of the city to ground herself with writing and nature, surrounded by her beloved pack of dogs and her lifetime-collaborator.
